Preventing Dryness
The wrong diet can wreak havoc on your hair and skin.
Certain nutrients are needed to produce healthy, soft, shiny, manageable hair.
Consider the following:
Dryness can be caused by a deficiency of vitamin A, B6, B12, or the mineral zinc.
These deficiencies can also be the cause of dry hair and dandruff.
Essential Fatty Acids
When rats are lacking fatty acids, the hair becomes extremely dry and thin.
Dryness, and split ends can benefit from the EFA’s (essential fatty acids). The best sources of EFA’s are fish oils, vegetable oils and lecithin (supplement).
DIY at home remedies for dry hair:
Dry hair can be relieved by adding 2-3 of drops of the essential oils of lavender, rosemary, or cedarwood to shampoo or conditioner. Always do a patch test to test for sensitivities and allergic reactions before using on the entire scalp or hair.
Hot oil treatment for dry hair-olive oil, almond oil, and coconut oil work by sealing the cuticle (outer layer of hair) for dry, damaged, or brittle hair. Warm oil works best. Oil can easily be warmed by soaking in warm water. Put a sealed container of oil in a bowl of warm-hot water for 10-15 minutes. Apply this warmed oil to your hair, then wrap it in a towel for 20 minutes. For comfort, warm the towel in a dryer first.
Finish by rinsing hair with warm water, then shampoo and condition as usual.
